De Gea provides an update on Man United contract talks.

David de Gea has reiterated that he would like to spend the rest of his playing days at

Manchester United and is ‘relaxed’ about talks over a new contract.

The Spain goalkeeper’s current deal expires in the summer and United have yet to trigger

a one-year extension clause in this contract, meaning he is allowed to discuss free transfers to

clubs abroad.

However, De Gea has again stated that he wants to see out the rest of his career at Man United and

provided an update on talks over a new deal.

“Yeah, I’m very relaxed. Just focus on training, and perform as best as I can. But, for sure, it’s going to

end in a good way,” he told the Manchester Evening News following United’s 3-0 win over

Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

“I hope so [to finish his career at United]. I was saying this is my club, I’ve been here many, many years and it’s a huge honor to be here and I’m so happy here.”

De Gea’s long-term United future was called into question earlier this season due to Erik ten Hag’s desire to play from the back, but the Spaniard’s kicking has not harmed them anywhere near as much as doubters believed it would. He has also kept the joint-second most clean sheets in the Premier League this term.

While De Gea remains in negotiations over a new deal at Old Trafford, United are busy looking to add another goalkeeper to their ranks.

After cutting Martin Dubravka’s loan from Newcastle, 90min understands the Red Devils are in talks with Crystal Palace over a deal to take Jack Butland off their hands. United also remains interested in Borussia Monchengladbach stopper Yann Sommer.
