England 0-0 USA; Sluggish Three Lions in a goalless draw with Americans in Group B clash

England struggled for a goalless draw against USA at Qatar World Cup; Three lions still remain top of Group B and will secure a Round of 16 spot if they avoid a four goal defeat in the hands of Wales; Christian Pulisic came close after hitting the bar for the Americans who could progress with win over Iran in the final group game.

Defeat to Wales by four goals or more would prevent Group B leaders England from making it through to the next stage.

Was there a drop-off in England team performance or the USA team was just better tactically.

After England humiliating 6-2 victory over Iran in their opening fixture in Qatar ,The English fans were optimistic about their team building on to the finals of Euros last summer.

After the final whistle was boos from the English travelling fans , with Gareth Southgate team dominated and badly off paced against an energetic USA team.

Christian Pulisic came close in the first half with a shot that rattled the cross bar, and Harry Maguire didn’t disappoint with a series of headed clearance from corners with the Americans putting in pressure in the second half.

USA did enough to change perceptions about England prospects and to also boost their own chances of qualifying.

Harry Kane blocked shot earlier on and a wide header from luke Shaw’s free kick in the second half stoppage time was the closest the toothless Three lions attack came to troubling USA in a spineless performance

USA still sit 3rd in Group B with one point behind Iran in which they faces on Tuesday, A Win will see them go through to the knock out stages. Maguire was excellent to mark his 50th cap.
